April 2017 by the Numbers

Why 'By the Numbers'?
While I'm much more concerned with quality as opposed to quantity, sometimes it's just fun to look back and reflect on what you've done in a specific window of time. Taking a look at what you've done often might be telling . . . here's to hoping that we engage in joyous activities regularly, and perhaps we can learn something from reflecting on how we've spent some of our time, and make changes if need be accordingly. The overall hope here is to celebrate the smaller joys in life, enjoying a measure of gratitude for the everyday and commonplace, as well as the rare and extraordinary.

April 2017 by the numbers:

- Five bags of compost gathered during a beautiful weekend spent in the gardens.

- First exciting signs of the seventy bulbs that I planted last Fall!

- Five precious days spent with my dear, dear friend S and her family in New Brunswick. Numerous gorgeous hikes in both NB and Nova Scotia were savoured together as we caught up on the present and reminisced about the past.

- One fanciful airline name (a subsidiary of New Leaf) that nearly rivals WOW Air (the airline we flew with to Iceland) in its whimsy: Flair Air.

- Three months of serious cuteness that I was so lucky to snuggle with.

- Thirty four years of friendship treasured.

- Three beaming smiles and one sleeping beauty, all testament to the wonderful day of hiking and fresh air we shared.

- 12 km swum by H's and E's four-person relay team during the ROW Swim Club's swim-a-thon. So fun to see two sisters cheering each other on as relay teammates. And countless thanks to all who supported them with donations to their fundraiser!

- 69 km biked by M during the Steaming Nostril race. His three girls were all very proud of him, particularly of his kindness when he stopped to support a fellow rider who'd crashed, and stayed with him until medical assistance arrived.

- Eight E-tivities completed, one major project, and countless responses posted during the first module of the Math Additional Qualification course I'm taking. Three more modules to go over the next two months.

The blog I created for my module one culminating project.
- One adorable little raccoon spied by me and H; just snoozing away in a roadside tree.

- Two forks and one dessert: chocolate terrine shared with Mom during her birthday lunch.

- Sixty years of my dear Mom celebrated! How we love her!!

- Four gals and their guys had a great eve celebrating the long weekend together.

- First daffodil to show its lovely face in our garden.

- Two little pals shared in some Easter egg dying fun.

- 214 jelly beans hidden by the Easter Bunny . . . thus far, only 212 found!

- Nine found baskets filled with goodies and treats, including chalk, socks and books, of course.

- Three days of competition at ROW's Spring Turbo Swim Meet, where my heart soared to see my little fishies laughing with friends on deck and racing with determination in the pool.

- Six awards for some great racing at the meet . . . if she'd have traded one of her golds for a bronze she'd have earned all six placings - lol!

 - Four crazy chip-inspired smiles . . . hmmm, that's quite the five o'clock shadow, girls!

- Two more lost teeth for this mighty mite to celebrate.

- Countless happy signs of spring in my gardens that make me smile :)

- One wonderfully precious cat to snuggle with.

- Two little chess mates.

- One 'Splod' the volcano created for our Mother/Daughter Book Club meeting, during which we discussed Neil Gaiman's hilariously creative book, "Fortunately, the Milk". We had much fun making him erupt during our meeting!

- Six book pals enjoyed our most recent Mother/Daughter Book Club meeting.

- Infinite gratitude felt for the wonder of this beautiful world.

Happy May to you!

  2. This is not really about this post, but I thought you did a fantastic Celine impression at Air Bandz! You got the hair and wardrobe just right, and I'm not sure, maybe you do actually have a bit of a facial resemblance, because I called it right away when I saw you off to the side before they announced which "celebrity" you were!

    1. Thank you SO much, David! Or should I say, Merci beaucoup!! I've always loved being involved in the school's Airbands Competition in one way or another, and I was so excited when I was asked to participate as a celebrity judge this year even though I'm still off on my leave of absence. The kids do such a fantastic job in all areas, and I think it brings the school and community together in such an entertaining and high-energy way. Channeling my inner Celine was great fun, and you gotta love being able to resurrect and get some use out of an old bridesmaid's dress!
Thanks as always for your thoughtfulness in reading and commenting here.
